Reporting lines

Conveya allows you to assign various types of support roles – including supervisors, managers, mentors, and more – to accompany learners on their career journeys. You can manage who plays a leadership role in relation to each learner and customise permissions based on these roles.


How to Manage Leadership Roles in Conveya

  1. Identify Leadership Roles:

    o Determine the types of leaders (e.g., supervisors, managers, mentors etc…) you want to assign to learners.

  2. Assign Leaders to Learners: Leaders can be added…
    1. One at a time - directly from an employees profile.
    2. as part of an upload when adding or enrolling people
    3. through the reporting line feature (See below).
  3. Customise Permissions Based on Roles:

    o Define what each leadership role can view or edit in a learner’s profile.

    o Set permissions to ensure that leaders have the right level of access and control, aligned with their responsibilities.

  4. Monitor and Adjust Assignments:

    o Keep track of the relationships between employees and their leaders.


The reporting line feature

You can select leaders and then batch assign them to oversee a group of employees. This process ensures that all selected employees are assigned without the need for repetitive, individual assignments. An example of this is assigning a leader such as a manager to their respective department, stream, business unit etc…


Your step by step guide

  1. Prepare your spreadsheet file.
  2. In the main navigation bar, click on the People section.
  3. On the top right of the page, you will see a button group. Click on the dropdown arrow within the button group to reveal more options.

  1. Select Update reporting line from the dropdown menu.
  2. You will be navigated to a new page where you will choose the leader and the learners.

  1. Select leaders of reporting line: You can begin by clicking the '+ Add Leader' button, which will open a slideover where you can choose the leader you have in mind.

  1. Select the role type that the leader (chosen in the last step) should have. This can either be Conveya’s default roles (Manager and supervisor) or a custom role that you have previously created.
  2. Click Done when you are satisfied.

  1. Selected employees: After assigning leaders, attach employees to the selected leaders. By Clicking '+ Add employees', a new page will open. From this page, you can select by user or Groups.


Pro tip: Conveya filters can be used to quickly search for a specific department, stream, business unit etc…

9. Press Select on the top right when you have completed this step. You will be returned back to the reporting line page.

10. Update: Once you are satisfied with this step, click update on the top right corner to make the changes. Any changes will not be made until you have clicked this button.

ℹ️ Reporting line can be edited anytime within an employee’s profile. This includes editing or establishing a new reporting line specific to the employee.

A: Conveya allows for multiple leaders per learner (with the exception of Supervisors).


Q: Can leaders track the progress of their assigned learners?

A: Yes, depending on the permissions set, leaders can view and monitor the progress and performance of their assigned learners through a dashboard and their profile.


Q: How do I ensure privacy and confidentiality in leader-learner relationships?

A: Conveya’s permission settings allow you to control the level of access each leader has, ensuring that sensitive information remains confidential and is shared appropriately.
